KISS

KISS - Keep it Simple, Stupid.

This year has been full and eventful for us and we've sensed the need to attempt to simplify some areas of our life. As such and with much deliberation and prayer, here are a few changes of note:

1) Rachelle will be taking a leave of absence from the Barnabas Center starting in October (after the golf tournament). She started back to work in April, right after I was sick and 3 months after Will was born. Since April, Rachelle has been going at a frantic pace taking care of me, the kids and our household. The Lord has sustained her, but just barely. The pace at which she was going is not sustainable, and she missess spending more time with Will, who is close to crawling and talking. And, Rachelle's sister is getting married in December, so a leave now, just before the holidays and the wedding, makes some sense.

2) We decided to sell our house at 2209 Kenmore and move to a more kid-conducive house (For us, that means a ranch-style house). How is this move simplifying, you may ask? In the short-term, a move is not simple, but quite invasive. However, we've contemplated either updates to our house or a move for some time. The former is too expensive and the latter offers good choices without us having to move too far. We're having some handymen fix up my unfinished projects and are working thru the logistics of selling our house. (As an aside, if you know of folks who want to move into the Elizabeth area of Charlotte, let us know.) We've also identified some potential areas in which we would like to move. So please pray that the Lord opens (literally) the right door for us.

Medical update: I continue to adjust to the new meds. Some days are better than others, but I'm less tired and cranky now than I was even a few weeks ago. I'm working on setting an appointment for late October to return to Yale. The good news is that the medicine seems to be working. Yahoo!

Thanks for your interest in our lives and your continued prayers. And I do read and enjoy comments, should you be so inclined.

Labor Day

Rachelle and I saw Will Ferrell's Talledega Nights on Friday night. It was a comical, pointless, plotless movie, making fun of most of the NASCAR stereotypes. We loved it.

On Saturday, I did this:

Pictured L to R: Lane, me, Ford (8) and Jonathon. We marked our 16th annual (I think) Labor Day dove hunt. We all had a pretty good day. I grilled my birds on Sunday night. Yummy, but Rachelle passed. No, I didn't wear my blue shirt while hunting, but have already changed. It was a bit, er...gamey at the end of the day.

Medical: I continue to adjust to my (new) medications, and am seeing progress. Praise God! I'm planning to return to Yale mid-October.
